Another great writer. He took part in 21th edition of Quai du polar. He was one of the speakes of two very interesting round-tables about history in crime or detective novels @arttu tuominen

Great Icelandic writer. From his first books which were more intimate to latest books more movie-type oriented ones, he knows how to captivate the readers

Thomas Mullen is a great author. After a series of three well documented books on how difficult it was for the US police to include Black policemen, he published another good story on how behaves a community under the threat of a virus. It takes place during the 1st WW ans Spanish flu. To be read.

Mc Coy, Alan Parks writer's main character, is eating a Scottish dish while investigating. This dish is made of haddock, a smoked fish. This will then be my lunch. When you like a book, you must experience it in-depth 😉

So glad. French version is here. I bought the English one while visiting Montreal one year ago. What difference between the 2 ? The translation ! I must confess that Olivier Deparis is a great translator. Notice that it does not translate English precisely but Scottish 😉 #alanparks #olivierdeparis

I discovered S.A Cosby almost at the same time as A. Parks' books. A truly violent ambiance as we can imagine in the US between White and Black people, gangs, the richest and poorest individuals. A. Parks' Glasgow would seem romantic if comparison was to be made.

This is the first Alan Parks' book, the first one I read. Without doubt although I do not pretend I am an expert, I knew he was a great author. Characters, plot, precise description of Glasgow, expressive feelings... maybe all the ingredients of a recipe but no result of a great cook as A Parks.

I do like this Japanese writer Keigo Higashino. His writing is very lean: right word at the right place, simple sentences... to describe crime situation and the entanglement of human behaviors and feelings. Great author who give another idea of Japan.

I am reading a book of Arttu Tuominen. This is my second one. Great author. Characters, Filand atmosphere, story...

After reading Alan Parks books, I would like to visit Glasgow. I would like to go to places where Harry McCoy's investigation took place: areas of the cities but also parks, churches, bars and pubs and so on if they exist and are not only fictional. Who could help me to visit ?

When Alan Parks released his first book in France entitled "Janvier noir" - French translation- literary critics were rather harsh even if they noticed the talent. Today A. Parks is considered in France one of the best Scottish writer. As for myself, I never doubted about his talent.
