An important reminder in these times. Do not let them wear you down. Stay focused. Stay steadfast. Stay steady. Act.

I saw Shucked this evening. A show I’ve been wanting to see for sometime (wish I could have caught it in NYC). It was excellent. Funny. About friendship, family, small town rural living and how not to allow it/that to translate to a small town worldview. But I couldn’t fully enjoy it…🧵

Just finished manually scanning all of my receipts and organizing expenses in anticipation of filing taxes. It’s always cute looking at those returns until those 1099s or NECs come rolling in. Praying to just simply break even.

I recently purchased a Waterpik. I grabbed this pamphlet when I was at the dentist and am now mailing in my proof of purchase for a $5 rebate.

Two types of practices stabilize Asian Americans in this triangulated location: relative valorization (rendering them superior to Black people) and civic ostracism (rendering them unassimilable and unfit for inclusion in the body politic) (p.5)”

I’m excited to dive in to this for personal and professional reasons. I’ve been doing work on antiblackness in non-black communities of color for nearly 10 years. I read Tanya Kateri Hernandez’s book in 2023. A must read.

I found a lovely Vietnamese Restaurant inside/connected town grocery store I visit from time to time and it was divine. I’m trying to find any excuse to be on that side of town so I can have more.

My first read of 2025 is done. I have many thoughts and feelings. I enjoyed the read, determining if I want to continue on in the series. #BookSky

First day back in the gym after several months of life and work being too much. I hate the build back of stamina and strength. It was rough.

I just completed my final read of 2024. While I’m always reading, it’s safe to say my next book won’t be finished until after the new year. As I await my Reading Wrapped summary from StoryGraph, here are some reflections on my reading journey this year. 🧵 #BookSky

Given the election results, mounting attacks on higher education, and equity/justice specifically, it has always been time to *stop* playing it safe. I’m so proud of this special issue and the authors for their courage.

I wrote about this a little bit in my book (a differing context) but it applies:

“average/working/poor-class individuals to aspire to wealth—and wealthy people to aspire to maintain their wealth—as such, society views wealth as inherently benevolent, or wealthy people as inherently good, moral.”
