i've always thought gears as a whole seem like a representation of abuse victims and gears like sol, testament, and justice specifically read to me as victims of a specific type of abuse i don't feel comfy going into (iykyk)

idk i just think it's interesting that it's, like, the only consistent trait that gears have. all of them have bright red eyes (except ky's gear eye which is interesting in its own ways)

the reasons persecutory alters lash out against the system are largely learned abusive behaviors and/or a warped idea of what is necessary for the survival of the system
working with them is about humanizing them, understanding why they lash out, and not treating them as innately problematic
