finally got my seestar set up in equatorial mode and taking 30 sec exposures. cut it loose on one of my faves, the headphones nebula. good thing i was at a bortle 2 site because i forgot to put in the narrowband filter 😆

my seestar s50 was worth it for last year's total solar eclipse alone. i shoulda gotten a cut because at least 5 people ordered one right on the spot when they saw what it could do. one of the people bought one for a granddaughter who later sent me a postcard saying how much she loves it.

as an amateur astronomer gone pro, my long-time advice has always been that the best first telescope is a good pair of binoculars. HOWEVER, modern smart telescopes kinda change the game. very portable, very easy to use, and can take shockingly good images given their price and ease of use...
