wanted to use Unity/Godot. We didn't even end up with basic save/load functionality at the end. It felt a little like my writing and art went to waste.
Ofc, if your programmer IS able to do one of the above, those engines give much more flexibility than RenPy (3/3)

give them a week to build a skeleton project with basic VN functionality like saving, loading and choices which save and increment variables. Making a VN framework from scratch is much much much more work than it seems. I've been in 2 game jams now where the programmer (2/3)

I'm so happy it works! I only have Windows so I just compiled and prayed for my non-windows brethren.
