West Side Chicagoan by birth. Sociology professor by training. Black feminist by Audre, bell, and Patricia. I study Black people doing Black things in Black places.
As I am finishing a grant proposal and the number of pages I have flagged, passages I have highlighted, and marginalia I wrote! Endarkened storywork will certainly shape the way I think, teach, and do work. Thank you sincerely for that beautiful and imaginative work.

This graphic is perfect for my sociological theory class. We discussed feminist theory and intersectionality last week, CRT and postcolonial theory this week, and will be looking at queer theory next. Thanks for sharing it. Also, thanks for your book. I’ve had it for a while & read it this week 1/2

Chicago has had one 9/11 worth of people disappeared since the attacks began in September. Los Angeles has had two 9/11s since June.

This is making me think of how for my parents generation (Silent and Boomer), the push in Black communities/families/cultural discourse was a good, union job and how for mine (Gen X) and Millennials, it’s building generational wealth.

I always forget they’re closed on Mondays in the worst possible way at the worst possible time—standing outside after stopping by on the way to work in desperate need of a latte.

Cf. my course evals at the beginning of my career with students pointedly stating I was but a mere assistant professor and saying that I acted like I knew more than they did.

The way all my meetings for tomorrow will now take place remotely.

The first snow is always bad and Monday snow is always bad but for the first snow of the season to be a storm on a Monday is diabolical.

You’re absolutely right!

My former hair stylist was also a bus driver for a bit and worked out of this garage. He had stories!
