It's an attack on Minnesota and the Twin Cities, strong centers of political resistance to fascism. It also activates the fascist base through an intense nexus of xenophobia.

All of these cases (though I am less familiar with Brazil and Portugal) also involved a ton of violent resistance. Just like the US Civil Rights Movement, you can't separate the results from the armed and violent contributions.

I think you've missed the point. It's not about altruism. Solidarity is not rooted in altruism, it's understanding how your struggles are shared.

Just think of how the cishet, white, well-paid engineer in the US is still exploited, even while a greater social standing and quality of living are provided for through the expropriation of wealth from the Global South, from the Black working class.
Their exploitation cannot cease as an island.

Solidarity with the causes of many small groups is necessary for collective liberation. "Nobody’s free until everybody’s free" is not just a slogan. Our collective deprivation, both mine and some cishet's, relies on the subjugation of the subaltern. Without addressing it, our oppression will remain.

Mass movements aren't about winning elections. It can involve winning elections, but it's about putting existential pressure on the status quo by any means necessarily. This is what Malcolm X was talking about in The Ballot or the Bullet.
