She would have been euthanized early for sure if she didn't get adopted out. She was happy for a bit of time between things though, and comfortable throughout. And spoiled absolutely rotten.

Severe constipation episodes, arthritis, lots of food problems that took way too long to identify, nine bad teeth, ear tumor, ACL tear, IBD, eventual small cell lymphoma, and found a new lump on her stomach even after six months on three different kinds of chemos

I had 3.5 years with Mar and in that time fully used all of my pet insurance funds each year (totaling $30k) plus a lot more on top of that. I wouldn't be surprised if the total was more like $50k total including the bills that exceeded my annual maximum

I'm also about to foster-to-adopt another cat in the next week or so, so pics of him eventually I guess. Getting an adolescent cat from another foster just to make sure I don't get an another incognito senior cat with lots of unaddressed health issues. I'm not ready to do that again so soon

Unexpectedly, beyond the grief, I feel... relieved? I don't think I realized how much of an emotional toll it had taken on me. In retrospect the constant stress and anxiety was overwhelming. I'd heard of care exhaustion before but didn't understand it at all.

New chemo today and if she's still not doing well in the next week or so her recheck in two weeks will probably need to become a euthanasia appointment

Her cancer diagnosis was back in June and usually with her type the average is ~2 years but none of the forms of chemo have been working so I don't think she'll make it to next year at this point
