Part 2
February 14, 2026 at 8:29 PM
Part 1 of trying to explain in a short how we are working on implementing Jake the Kangal LDG into how we need our operations to run. The only real thing he needs to learn is that Mya can work sheep, the rest of the training is getting the sheep used to a ‘flock dog’

Newly arrived, but we’ve been watching this ewe very closely since last night. Active labor stated at 0700 this morning, but within 10 minutes knew something was wrong. Baby was breech, or backwards. Successfully pulled the little girl and is doing well now. Definitely 1 more, maybe 2 still in momma

A nervous-Nellie. Took longer to get her calmed and caught to help pull the lamb that was in a position she was not going to come out without assistance. All is well now, moms and babies all have a nice private area to bond.

The first of the ‘newbies’ lambed early this morning. Only 4 more ewes in this group, the main 38 ewes are due in April.

The ‘spicy boys’ were very cheeky for this afternoons herding training, Mya is starting to get a lot of confidence in having to deal with the little rebels and their desire to fight her.

Mya and Jake’s 1st meeting. Important our LGD and herd dog get along incase of emergency flock evacuation off pasture (predator or natural disaster) and we can’t quickly pull the LGD off for Mya to work.

Jake, the newest aspiring member of our ‘sheep-defense-force.’ He’s fitting in pretty good so far, but a lot more work ahead to make sure everything goes 100%.

The ram lambs were acting quite ‘spicy’ for this mornings herding training.

New breed of super long sausage lambs. It could also be two lambs, I’m not gonna check.

After an insane weekend, back on the camper. The left side is nearing competition, just have the foam to replace, but leaving that till we access the front to assess any damage. The hard side has been exposed for us to see the scale of repair. It’s braced up and ready to get into tomorrow.

That was a night. Someone’s travel trailer exploded to our due North. Wildfire wasn’t going to attend, so off we went to manage it all night. Think an offgrid system blew the batteries at around 10 (Neighbour heard what he thought was gunshots, but evidence looks like overcurrent windmill.)

A bit of work with Mya today, collecting the flock. We usually use her to drive and have really mucked up the outrun, but she’s a quick study. Protecting our ‘miracle squash’ from the rams.

Even with the rain we worked on the camper. The bench is out, removed some of the back ply to help with removal of the cabinet. Today should have the side back together with new. #camperremodel #camper #camperlife #camperremodel #campers #campertruck #camperbuild #camperproject

seen this on Facebook, Red Falcon Ranch if you go there they had another goat sent though the same auction. Share this around.

Rainy morning, seems odd all this August rain. The cat doesn’t mind so much, Benny is black from being in the dry creek and few mud holes, and it’s easy to track the sheep up the pathway. #Farmlife #BCfarmers #farmers #SheepFarm #CDNsheep #WestCdnAg

Doing waters for the crew. Beefcake, Frosty and some character behind her, lambs reminding me to put up the wall on the shed, and Hank looking sheepish with an all black, his buddy and Manny. #Farmlife #BCfarmers #farmers #SheepFarm #CDNsheep #WestCdnAg #sheep #lamb

The camper roof thankfully wasn’t bad under the tin, the ‘good corner’ turned the whole thing into more work. Nice to have gotten the truck running to pick up the materials needed. #camperremodel #camper #camperlife #camperremodel #campers #campertruck #camperbuild #camperproject

Truck is fixed- swapped the steering, adjusted the APPS/throttle position sensor. Started looking at the parts Nitro for good suspension to put on Karis Jeep. Ready to farm again, gonna be using the ‘97 around the farm instead of the ‘01 (saves wear.)

2nd group of ram lambs sorted, mostly pure Dorps, Kari got to work stripping the camper so we can fix some water damage, I took the wallered out knuckle off the truck and am working to replace a damaged TRE.
August 12, 2025 at 4:02 AM
Sorted the little ram lambs that are getting too old to be in with the ewes. Mya was super keen to get to move the sheep, and we got it all done before the skies opened up with torrents of rain and hail.

Evening wrap up, guard dogs in the hayfield, checking a hole (for our log gate post/fence project) for anyone who might have got under the skidsteer that’s temporarily covering it, and my little dairy buddy coming for pets while the lambs are all waiting for their dinner crunchies.
