Sick and tired of company after company sneaking in AI features to their sites/apps, not telling anyone, and making them on BY DEFAULT.

It should be illegal. AI should be OPT IN ONLY. Further, it should not be tied intrinsically into standard features so that I'm de facto forced to Opt In.

Just finished Witch King by Martha Wells and am once again reminded she is superlative at world building. Any aspiring author who wants to see world building that is both exceptionally well done while simultaneously serving the needs to the story being told would do well to be reading her work.

On the heels of yesterday's post about reading, I'm pulling back to 36 books for this year. Not because I failed last year's goal of 48 by 3, but because I noticed I was shying away from longer books. I don't want to set goals that stifle variety of experience due to an arbitrary numerical goal.

For 2024, I came up short on my reading target of 48 books. Out of the 45 books I completed, 32 books by 11 women, and 13 books by 13 men.

The author that I read the most, this year is @seananmcguire.bsky.social with 14 titles. @caseyblair.bsky.social comes in second with 4 titles.
