What blows my mind is, if initial reports are to be believed, Ahmed has no firearms experience.

At least for someone with experience, if you get the gun, you know you can turn it against the guy. Going after the weapon without that knowledge makes it a much more ballsy move in my book.

40% of their representatives seemed happy to do so, not exactly a resounding rebuke...

Watch MTG rally enough GOP votes to sink it in the House over lack of ACA funding.

Things are already crazy, might as well just go off the chain.

This, 1000%. AI excels in the demo space: make a flashy widget that shows a cool graph. Make a dashboard that shows how awesome our company is.

It fails spectacularly when the task is "integrate this new AI widget into our legacy ruby backend that runs on WinXP."

90%+ of sw dev is the latter.

Folks seem to have forgotten that AI degrades when trained on AI data.

So the more AI is used, the more the resulting data will degrade AI and the less quality training data there will be. It's a negative feedback loop.

No human oversight means it will spiral even faster.

I mean AI is a GOP wet dream for government.

They always want to break public services so that they can justify privatizing them.

They've convinced tens of millions of people they will never see social security, in preparation for cutting their social security.
August 24, 2025 at 12:23 PM
Eventually a major company is going to be hit by an AI induced major failure (be it security, configuration, or whatever) and we'll see a big correction.

Until then, I imagine many companies will opt for "10x" improvement by cutting 90% of staff, only to realize AI doesn't live up to that promise.

Quippy one liners don't change reality.
August 13, 2025 at 7:43 PM
"Sure we're lost our right to vote, to control our own bodies, and not be treated like property... but at least Ronin didn't have to compromise their principles."

I'm sure that'll be a great comfort to women in the coming years.

Paying lip service to them is meaningless.
August 13, 2025 at 6:26 PM
I'm sure it'll be a great comfort to all of the women that you know that you didn't compromise your principles as they lose all their rights to the autocratic Christian Nationalists.

Cuomo belongs in prison, but he's miles better than Vance. Push the dems to be better, but acknowledge reality.
August 13, 2025 at 4:01 AM
Newsom is the bigger snake to me, but sitting it out is a luxury a lot of folks don't have.

Tens of millions of Ds sat out the 2024 election; however bad the estab dems are, they aren't the ones willfully choosing Trump.

Should they do better? Of course, but I'd vote for the pos Cuomo over Vance.
August 13, 2025 at 3:21 AM
Do I think he's the perfect candidate? No.

Do I think he's the strongest candidate to win running against JD Vance? Yes.

Purity tests don't win elections. It doesn't matter how great your candidate is on the issues if they don't win.

I hope someone better emerges, but until they do, Pete it is.

I got it to give me an approximate map of the points... note it isn't correct (the line requires crossing states you've already visited, which violates the Hamiltonian path constraint) and it's missing two states.
August 9, 2025 at 11:48 PM
I asked it for a road trip path around the continental US visiting each state only once (a Hamilton path mathematically speaking) and it confidently gave me a list of 46 states.

The end of the list showing the obvious error.

I asked 4o to list the missing states, and it said 3 were missing... 🤦

Is that why your profile says "macrmolecular" or is this perhaps another UK/US difference I'm unfamiliar with?

Point stands though. ChatGPT 5 still fucks up in ways normal non-PhD having children won't. Case in point: many (most?) preschoolers can accurately count the number of Bs in blueberry...

The opinion of someone who either has no idea what is going on or truly doesn't give a shit about civilians.

The IDF has been committing war crimes since October 7th, but of course the first 18 months we should all give them a pass because "it's Hamas' fault."

Funny, it's always someone else's responsibility to stop Israel.

The US could have ended this war within a week at any point in the last two years... but of course other countries should start wars so we don't have to come to terms with our culpability.
August 5, 2025 at 6:51 PM
Ah, so the surrounding arab nations should go to war with Israel?
August 5, 2025 at 4:50 PM
The IDF won't let them land. What part of that do you not understand? The IDF regularly seizes humanitarian vessels trying to enter Gaza, claiming any aid is "helping Hamas."
August 5, 2025 at 9:36 AM
Israel has enforced a blockade of Gaza for decades... your 2nd point makes no sense.

And they had that opportunity and chose to disregard international law.
August 4, 2025 at 9:33 PM
My post wasn't a reply to yours...
August 4, 2025 at 9:32 PM
Because enabling an ethnic cleansing is totes cool with you, eh? Israel has never wavered: anyone who leaves cannot return.

Alternatively, maybe we could have just stopped giving bombs and money to the side committing constant war crimes and then nobody would need to be treated or protected.

Lol, it's the same shell game with no taxes on overtime... while also repealing overtime pay requirements.

You won't get taxed on the overtime pay you no longer get.
August 4, 2025 at 1:35 PM
Hit the nail on the head. The ST future is just hoping that we make it past the dark times and are better for it, not that they don't come at all.

The counterpoint is it's been less than 100 years since fascism dragged us into a World War and yet we are again on the same tracks speeding along...
