My first thought: "then surely VDH didn't have the right numbers because they didn't exist yet, Krentz must have come later."
Nope, 4 years before. lol lmao.

He's on the "rugby scrum" position, right? That would create lower casualties, thus allowing more combat. The math might work out if you use all of his (wrong) numbers together.

Practically speaking, they'll just join right-wing militias/gangs.

Oh, 100% agreed. I went from "I might pick this up" to "this game needs to release RIGHT NOW" in the 2.9 hours I spent in the demo.

Equestrian/dressage outfit! Tight white pants, v-neck coat (cut the shirt for cleavage), tall boots, riding crop, add horse ears/tail for flavor.

I wasn't *despairing*, I just think, even if we renewableize our entire *current* grid, it's more likely that we will want to expand the grid in the future than compress it. I guess I was too pithy in my first reply.

Well, I certainly expect the population to keep growing, at least a bit. Beyond that, I don't know! 50 years is a long time. If our total power consumption has stayed ~the same since the 1970s, I'll concede. (Cursory google searching did not give me a great answer.)
January 7, 2026 at 3:10 AM
I know that! I just expect us to be doing more things in the future than we do now, which will likely require at least *some* more energy production and storage. The cost will be much lower than fossil fuels, but it won't go away entirely.

If the economy keeps growing, WILL we ever have enough batteries? I doubt we're going to use less electricity in 50 years, even if we switch entirely to renewables.

Of course this is most obvious with Grok, The Fascism and CSAM Machine, but it is a broader tendency of the technology: if you outsource thinking, values and creativity to a machine, then the fellow who designs and calibrates the machine has a big lever in your mind.

Or a boot on your brain.

How far did you go to confirm this? It would be just as bizarre, and really funny, if it's just Leviathan that's immune, or one particular harp that can't hit bosses.
