I pushed it back on and there was definitely something missing ...and it went on "straighter" than it was before. I subsequently bought an upgrade with the 120GN

Very nice !! I had a 120N pimped up earlier this year until the body and the lens decided to part company !

I was looking at “ an auction site “ and saw the difference in cost and deduced the same so will consider it a family heirloom and thus worth the investment opportunity !

Yes part of the rationale was the ability to grab it and shoot immediately and it has proved to be pretty accurate in most situations so a very versatile set-up. I am considering getting a wide lens for it at some point as well

I have a similar set up which I have likewise grown to love. Had one many many years ago as my “ main” camera system and now as a “daily carry” and have to agree to it being very capable indeed !
