President Donald Trump’s so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act will shift billions in costs for SNAP and Medicaid to states.

But with 26 having cut or eliminated state income taxes just since 2021, they may not have the money to continue the programs.

Since February, according to my latest analysis, almost 600,000 Black women have been economically sidelined. The November 20, 2025, Jobs Report makes clear this isn’t a blip. It’s a structural crisis. That is not a recovery. It is a redistribution of opportunity.

A new study shows rents for low-wage Atlanta tenants are rising *9 times* faster than for wealthy renters.

The affordability crisis is everywhere: housing, healthcare, food, electricity, survival itself.

And the party that won big on "affordability" last week just turned around and surrendered it.
Study: Rents for low-wage Atlantans rose 9 times faster than for high earners
Rents for suburban workforce housing in the metro Atlanta region increased by almost 20%, while rents for luxury units increased by 2%, a study said.

I'm fully convinced that the downfall of this regime will come from brazen, not-even-trying-to-hide-it plunder: the relentless enrichment of billionaires and Trump himself while necessities like housing, food, and healthcare become unattainable for everyone else.

This Is happening because the Trump administration actively chose to illegally withhold nutrition assistance, pretending it wasn’t allowed to deliver benefits despite its own guidance (that it has since deleted) saying it was allowed to deliver benefits.
Here in Atlanta yesterday, more than 2,000 people waited in their cars—one woman for 14 hours—for a box of food. The giveaway ended early; there wasn't enough to go around.

Multiply this scene by countless others across the country, and you get a sense of how crushing the desperation is right now.

Food banks across the U.S. were stretched thin even before the federal government shut down. Rising food prices had driven a growing number of people to their doors. Cuts to federal programs had left them with less to give. Now, that system is anticipating an even greater surge in demand.

Attacks on the federal workforce are also attacks on Black workers, who are overrepresented in the public sector.

Black unemployment is 7.5%. I'm reminded of Coates' observation that Black Americans regularly experience conditions that would be considered a crisis if whites faced them.

“Is this America… where our lives be threatened daily, because we want to live as decent human beings?”
