I think it's okay, considering it doesn't straight up tell you how to stop him. Plus if you had to buy it it would make getting the adult wallet mandatory, since getting through the fire temple without it(especially with 3 hearts) is basically impossible

i replayed this somewhat recently playing thru the whole game sucks ass but i think just playing team sonic...i think it's okay. the controls are insanely twitchy but a level like egg fleet has the classic multi-tiered pathways i wish 3D sonic did way more.
