in the case of aqua (spoilers for s2) watching his star disappear entirely after his mission feels both like a weight lifting but also his connection to Ai/idea of her break - theres a sense that smthns wrong esp since ruby still has hers. it feels unnatural idk i’m only halfway thru s2 so who knows

this is why we see them in a characters eyes whenever they’re imitating Ai or, in the case of aqua specifically, vanish entirely when they’ve lost their “purpose” or spark. i also think that in regards to both aqua & ruby it represents their connection to Ai literally acting as a hereditary trait
