Just paid for a couple kid's book wishlists for Mercy Housing, including anime and YA novels. Hope the kids enjoy their books. One of my grandmas was in Catholic foster care as a kid & always think about the stories about her being alone w/the nuns during Christmas w/no visitors or presents.

The sole photo of my grandpa in his uniform. Was a horseback courier in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, including getting caught behind enemy lines. Story is that he had been in a honky tonk band touring w/the circus & the manager ran off w/the cashbox, stranding him in AL. Joined the army afterwards.

Took the day off from work & went up the hill to Rainbow Orchards for apple cider donuts. Used to go here after church, didn't know until after he died that the founder had been in the Peace Corps.

The 100+ year old cemetery where my parents are interred had a bonfire event last night w/tea & fairy lights so you can roast s'mores/have non-alcoholic drinks. Not anything compared to when I've been to Muertos in Mexico, but some of the living I spoke to were definitely in contact w/spirits

Cutest trick or treater gave us a thank you note. Four large groups of Middle School aged kids, who are hilarious. The kid dressed at Charlie Sheen in Hot Shots was so excited to try out his “brace yourself, there are more kids headed your way” joke. Charlie was with Glo Stick Man & a Plague doctor

Is there a term for when a businesses uses a reproduction of a historic photo or map of the location to signal authenticity? Spotted this photo citation in a Mendocino Farms that made me smile b/c having worked with CSL, I know that they made MF put up this notice for the rights to use their photo.
