(It seems you can take them out and turn off optimized battery charging "until tomorrow", and then put them back in the case; but that is entirely too many steps)

And, unlike on other devices, it doesn't seem you can force "charge to 100%", as the phone only allows fiddling with those settings when the AirPods are out of the case, and thus not charging.
