Close up photo of the big boss muscovey drake, despite his intimidating appearance, he's incredibly gentle and always let's his lady's eat first, and he's always keeping an eye out for danger. Another rare sight at this local park, a royal spoonbill. Beautiful bird with a unique look. He/she was looking for food while the pond was temporarily drained for maintenance.

Close up photo of a large friendly female ducks at the local park, she always comes up close alongside the muscovey ducks. She appears to be a khaki campbell mix. One of the 3 female muscovey ducks at the park, she's almost a year old and is still growing the red skin around her face. She's lovely and very friendly, favourite food is peas 🫛 A pair of Australian black swans at another park. They're friendly, but the cob (male swan) has a feisty bite even when he's not trying to attack you (he sometimes grabbed the skin of my palm while handfeeding him lol) they trusted me enough to bring their two cygnets (baby swans) close 😊 A pair of friendly Barbary doves who sometimes come close to eat the bird seeds I throw for the ducks and sparrows.

Since early June when Mum was here, I spotted 3 orphaned ducklings at the local park and shared photos of them with her.

Miraculously, 2 of them survived the frosty cold winter mornings (-2C some days!) And these 2 gals are about to fledge soon 😊🦆💜
The 3 ducklings on June 24th, when Mum was still well I showed her photos of them during this age. I estimate they were only about a week old and they were already orphaned at this stage (the female duck near them isn't the mother btw) they're eating oats and seeds I threw for them. The ducklings again, July 6th. This was when the third one sadly didn't make it, thus they were left on their own. They're cuddling up together on the pond island to keep safe from predators and the cold. The drake next to them is a disabled fella who appears to have some kind of deformation of his wings, possibly angel-wing. This was the last photograph I took of the ducklings before my mother ended up in hospital, very unwell. Thus, I stopped coming to the park for a few weeks. Here's the 2 surviving ducklings, August 5th. This was my first time coming back to the park since my mother passed away and I was so happy to see that they both survived the winter and were doing very well for themselves. They still have a small amount of duckling fluff left on their backs. And here's the little survivors, today August 19th. They've become used to me and love to eat from around my shoes 👞 they're almost flegged and are both female, since they both make loud quack calls rather than the quiet drake 'rab' sounds. They've got no duckling fuzz left and their wing feathers are almost grown. They're quite feisty and chase other ducks away from me when I'm feeding them 😂
