Taking a break from the video Advent Calendar this year, with the possiblity of it returning in 2026.

In the unlikely event I've inspired anyone with mine the last few years, I encourage you to give it a try. Go nuts! Be interested to see someone else's take on the format. :)

The short run of episodes featuring the Trotters' Liverpudlian cousin were found to be so funny at test screenings that they were considered a public health risk and had to be wiped. Only a fragment of the opening titles remains.

Handy hint for anyone who needs to say Mr. Fortigue-Smythe's full name aloud. The middle bit should sound much the same way Ringo pronounces "Montague."

Four-ta-gyu not Four-teeg.

Genuinely curious - what are everyone's thoughts on the 90's era of Postman Pat (that being the four specials and Series 2) ?

Whenever I see discussion about about "classic Pat" I find it tends to focus mainly on Series 1. Anything that appeals less about these later episodes?

At least this version suggests a logical reason for TFC conveniently being there at the right time. He'd driven to the signalbox to help the Signalman (presumably named Sid?) finish his shepherd's pie and then made a quick visit to the Smelters Yard to use as a cover story.

A HUGE SUPPER OF SHEPHERD'S PIE

I can't think of many other actresses who threw themselves into physical comedy to quite the same extent. Obviously stunt doubles were used, but much of the time it was clearly her doing that stuff. One of the greats.

Here's John appearing alongside Arthur Lowe and Ian Lavender - but not Dad's Army as you might expect! He plays an Engine Driver in this episode of the early 70's radio sitcom Parsley Sidings.

I think he enjoyed this part of the visit considerably more...

You may remember Ted visiting Sodor to meet The Fat Controller on Yorkshire Day a few a years ago. Well, arrangments were finally made for a reciprocal visit to Cumbria.

Although TFC didn't get too involved in any Greendale tomfoolery, he declared the dancing to be "delicious and most amusing."

Still trying to ID this shot from another S1 episode. The big Victorian looking building at the end of the road intrigues me, but I suspect it may be long gone by now...

(3/3) Granville then turns left and is chased down Cleveland Street by an angry cyclist. We didn't go this way though and headed straight on!

(2/3) Granville stops the shop bike at the traffic lights on Hall Gate next to what was then a dry cleaners but later became an accountants firm. He looks towards the traffic lights with the distinctive Mercule Hotel in the background.

(1/3) An unintentional Open All Hours location visit with @oldsquarewheels.bsky.social in Doncaster the other day. Not the shop as you might expect (that proved too far to walk!) but a spot in the city centre used for the Series 1 episode "A Well Catered Funeral"...

Apparently I have a DM waiting for me here. Unfortunately I'm unable to read or respond to it as I've haven't sorted out the age verification thing yet.

So, whoever you are - if it's important, please get in touch with me on Twitter or Discord (both same handle as here) instead. Thanks.
