I'm not convinced this genre EVER died, they just moved to indie spaces. AGS existed in like 2003 when they were saying the genre was completely dead

I love this! I've seen people criticise FF12 for originally centering the story around Basch and later rewriting it make Vaan and Penelo the protags. Apparently this is a bad thing but personally we have enough stories about charismatic pirates imo?? this is way more interesting to me
