#film 📽️ linda linda linda 'リンダ リンダ リンダ', 2005, dir. nobuhiro yamashita w/ @toujourstafille.bsky.social. has to count among the best movies about being young ever made. it did not feel like a teen movie- which is part of its greatness, its characters were real people. so beautiful and warm.

#film 📽️ woman of water '水の女', 2002, dir. hidenori sugimori. adored this one, really connected to it and was in awe at how much warmth there was in the loneliness & grief, it takes skill to craft unique emotional landscapes like this.

#film 📽️ peking opera blues '刀馬旦', 1986, dir. tsui hark. an incredibly fun and dynamic spy film. from the other tsui's i've seen i knew he's very skilled at using gender performance (& gendered violence) as storytelling frameworks and this is one of his best in that regard. rec

#film febs looking like this so far. hated nosferatu truly a nothingburger, les blank's a well spent life was incredible and so was frank perry's the swimmer, house was such earnest fun! im not turning out to be the biggest nobuhiko fan BUT there's a joyous earnestness to his works i do really adore
