However! Some alt text is better than no alt text. Also everyone’s capabilities are different. Do what you can. You’re making an effort

IMHO, the info is very important but describing the visual is just as important in this context. If we’re working to create an equitable experience, the alt text should match the experience a non-visually impaired person has. That includes knowing the layout and every text, image, symbol, detail etc

You could describe that there are different colors & fonts. Describe the layout and other smaller images/ symbols.

It’s helpful to be as descriptive as possible. Who, what, where, why, when (when applicable) if you wanted someone to create the image for you — what language would you use to describe it to them? Hope that makes sense :o)

Alt text describes images for blind and low-vision users, and helps give context to everyone.

A screen reader is a form of assistive technology (AT) that renders text and image content as speech or braille output. Screen readers are essential to people who are blind, and are useful to people who are visually impaired, illiterate, or have a learning disability.
February 15, 2025 at 5:25 PM
Screen readers are software applications that attempt to convey what people with normal eyesight see on a display to their users via non-visual means, like text-to-speech, sound icons, or a braille device.
