As a habs fan, I've liked the newer format. With increased changes of a ottawa, boston, Toronto matchup. For example the habs 2010 conf run was pitt, wash, phi vs the 2014 conf run vs tb, bos, nyr. 2 playoff matchup vs ottawa in the 12 years since the change vs none in the 20 years before.

I like the idea of dach on the 1st, had success there his 1st year in mtl. How about demidovs calder chances? 12 pts in his last 13 and only 4 for Schaeffer in his last 13

My only concerns with this trade is if danault starts to take kapanens spot. Don't love 3 players making 18 M in the bottom 6

Hutson outscored celebrini by 3 pts in 12 more games. Right now, demidov and sennecke are on pace to outscore Schaeffer by 8-10 pts. How big do you think that gap needs to get, for one of them to win.
With more ice time, I can see a big 2nd half for demidov.

Strongly disagree. I think demidov, bolduc and dobson are huge upgrades over those 3. Doesn't guarantee success though. We'll see how they handle playing with expectations to win.

Usually teams dumping a salary need that cap space. Mtl did need the space that bad. Getting that contract helps sj cause they'll be unload at the trade without going below the cap floor

My only concern with signing him to 10M. Would be, hutson will be pp1. So, dobson will never get the point totals to justify that number. That could affect the rest of his game, if the fans get on him for being overpaid.
