Streaming platforms can do this, because they are switching users to passive, algorithm-driven listening. By substituting AI slop for human songs, these platforms can reduce costs and boost profits significantly.

Bandcamp eliminated half of its workforce today. My understanding is that these weren’t buyouts, just layoffs.

But the CEO of the new parent company Songtradr didn’t announce the firings—instead he bragged about the 50% of employees he kept. What sad spin!
