I do think that there are 4 signposts for each archetype due to p2, and only two of each cycle are hybrid (10 total). I could see that going down to 1 for each color pair in regular sets, to maintain the 10 hybrid count

This seems to be shown quite clearly in this set, where the card will be maximized in the proper pair but can still be played as a last resort in the other pairs. I am a fan of making the vanilla powerful ones double hybrid pipped though, unlike what they did with the RG dork

It feels like their intention for hybrids like pond prophet are to reward you for finding the open lane, but to also help avoid trainwrecks if you're scrounging for playables if the cards in your lane aren't opened at the table/we're getting cut. For that purpose I feel like it was pretty successful
