The colors matched the six lamps above the flippers. "Time" went forward and backward in reaction to some shots (forget the details). There's was different scoring depending on which clock color was active.

It was a short lived rule - mostly incomprehensible and sucky.

The video includes a shot of the prototype clock decal. I think only three games were assembled with it.
