Both have schock value. The camp of Lost In Space is kind of fun in small doses. But Star Trek was the real deal. At this stage, though, I must confess that the mcguffins used in so many of these space tales are utterly preposterous and unworkable - this starts with the Star Trek transporter.

Points for use of the word "knucklehead" in this context, too. Good descriptor for Musk.

Was skeptical from the start. Never liked the personality driven "visionary" thing whether Jobs or Musk. But, Jobs at least had a better claim to it. Gave him a pass for a long time, but the Thai rescue bit sunk him for good in my eyes - for numerous reasons (rational as well as ethical).

Oh, but we've been told that he is an avid reader. That is, when he's not shitposting - which is pretty much always.

Once again, spot on. His "genius" is in his ability to pitch "visionary" perspectives to a certain category of person (mostly male, tending nerdy). Apart from that he's a bit of an egotistical dullard surrounded by sycophants.

No he doesn't. While true, he does have a sense of how to appeal to a certain mindset - which is what this seems to be. A pitch to the futuristic-minded (in the sci-fi sense) fanbase who once adored him. He wants them to take him back as their favorite tech visionary.

Precisely. Even with AI, there is a lot of manual processing in everything from carpentry to plumbing to medicine to systems buildouts and so much more.

Perhaps we could work on earlier retirements or shorter work weeks. Then again, look at Musk's own companies and see how that's working out.
