Despite everything else, a 50kg tank full of liquid that can be refilled in under 5 minutes vs 500kg of batteries that requires 20-40 minutes to charge makes a strong argument to the person who's never had to deal with anything else associated with an internal combustion engine.

My mother and step-dad did this. She showed up to work (I was the dishwasher, she the manager/bartender) and told me. I was surprised but (at the time) glad; he seemed like a cool guy. I didn't find out about his sleeping with a bunch of wives from his marriage counseling gig until after she died.
