DoorDash says no SSNs, IDs, driver's licenses, or financial data were stolen. That's good news, but don't let them downplay what WAS taken. This data enables real-world threats like stalking, swatting, and targeted scams.

What you can do: Be on high alert for phishing attempts via calls, texts, or emails. Scammers now have enough info to make their attacks highly convincing. Trust nothing, verify everything. Also: Freeze your credit! (always good advice!)

DoorDash claims "no sensitive information was accessed."

Reminder: Your phone number is tied to 2FA, account recovery, and SIM-swapping attacks. Your email is used to log in to banks. Your address is literally where you live. But sure, totally not sensitive information 🙃

While this doesn't resolve WhatsApp's privacy concerns, it does help bridge the gap between WhatsApp users and those who opt to use Signal. Potentially someday, you can message WhatsApp contacts from Signal without ever needing to set up a WhatsApp account.

Why this matters: The DMA aims to curb big tech dominance by promoting interoperability. No more being locked into one app ecosystem. Theoretically more messengers will also work with this.

Meta built this under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), maintaining end-to-end encryption (E2EE) and some basic privacy guarantees. As a whole: you can talk across platforms without sacrificing security. (or WhatsApp's definition of it)

What this means: Chrome still uses third-party cookies while even Safari blocked them years ago. If you value digital rights, this is yet another reason to switch browsers. Don't wait for Google to protect you, they've made it clear they won't. Use Brave or @firefox.com
