2020 might have been the wrong year. IMHO, the ground is more fertile now. Dem leadership reacted to Trump 1 with a fighting spirit. But this time they're alienating liberals with their own centrist low agency explanation. Right movement that harnessed this while retaining activist left could win..

I think a lot comes down to Warren herself just not having the political skill to pull it off. But it suggests having the right diagnosis is not enough. You have to have a political adeptness that can change the tone without actually saying "I'm changing the tone" to either liberals or activists

It's worthwhile to grapple with the Warren campaign in 2020, which followed most of this advice for a reformed progressive candidacy. They pissed everyone off and failed miserably. One takeaway for me is that neither camp is actually interested in a bridge. Responses here suggest this is the case.

the worst part of the Biden era was that all the authoritarian tendencies from Trump 1 actually got worse, and the whole country managed to get even more conservative somehow.
