I didn't really think I could connect detergent products to video games, but the people stanning for pods sure feel similar to that guy who refused to understand my point that if for some reason Sony decided to never make a PS6, that would not mean no new games could ever happen again.

This is extremely not true but go ahead and keep believing it if it makes you feel better

If you count where I live in the burbs, yes, which since the city is claiming the Pope who's from Dolton I think I qualify.

Props @wbez.org for pointing that out in a delightfully deadpan fashion during one of the news reports today.
For those that don't know, an undocumented person drove drunk and killed someone in a crash, and dear leader likes to talk about that incident as the reason they're here abducting people.

No this isn't a belt thing, it has always done this from the day it was new. It's a barely noticeable flutter but it's the kind of thing I notice. I reckon it's a power supply thing or something to do with the fancy servos it's using to control speed.

Depending on how you qualify them yes, but they're all terrible. The last good ones hit the scene in the early 2000s.

I ran across one of those in a thrift store once and I regret not buying it. A cassette changer like that blew my mind, and it was probably a better deck overall than this Sony

I don't think there's much evidence to suggest that this is really that terrible for the tape or the heads.

It's simply 12 volt LED tape light, and there's a 12-volt DC source in there somewhere apparently cuz I found it back in the day

Yes because the thing about cassette decks is that they can record onto blank tapes which is what I have done

It's not really any worse than fast forwarding or rewinding, it moves the tape head away from the tape and is barely touching it.

The best part, and actually genuinely it felt kind of futuristic to do this, is that to make these recordings I was simply casting my phone's screen to the Chromecast Audio which is plugged into this receiver.

I bought this cassette deck new from B&H Photo when I was in high school - basically figured I should get a new nice one before they're no longer made.
It's not that great really, more flutter than I'd like especially when you first use it, but I'm pretty proud of that lighting mod I pulled off.

No, it's just scanning for a gap in signal to figure out where the beginning of the next song is. But this does have auto reverse

It's automated music search, it was pretty common in cassette decks starting in the late '90s

Like, I don't know why some people would feel compelled to say "well maybe the formula changed in some way" or "perhaps they're responding to customer feedback" when my point is simply "this is a made up number based on some arbitrary metric you absolutely do not have to follow"

For clarity, the reason I used that language is because of all the replies to these posts where people are trying to give the benefit of the doubt to corporations

Chicago would probably be more in the national consciousness if we weren't Midwesterners who can't stand people who are full of themselves.
Alas, our modesty means most people think nothing of us except when we're in the news for unfortunate reasons. Like now.
