Not a popular Rc truck in the U.K.
and it isn’t exactly ‘new’ so I have made it new drive shafts. Belongs to a friend.

I am pleased with it. Three years old now?

Red train is super red :D
It’s first outing since the van broke down in august? Or September? Ages ago anyway.

It was cold down the toy train because it was nearly raining, but still way too warm.
I was logging :D

Aha, cotter pin :o) use the die grinder to put an ickle flat on the shaft for it to grab.
I ground a divit in my 20mm ‘hard as rock shaft’ and used a grub screw, which is hinky and works.

@artfulemma.bsky.social it ran yesterday and moved today. I gave up on the vacuum cold run thingy. Too old and this isn’t the drawing for mine. I have three yellow valves which looks like a solution to a problem that shouldn’t exist?

@artfulemma.bsky.social
I milled off 0.6mm, it’s flat enough to seal now :)
Before it was so corroded the gasket leaked.

Looks more like a car engine now. Some bolts had to come out for the right ones. Not badly wrong and plenty of time to get it right.
Oil filter should arrive tomorrow and then it is about ready to go in. @artfulemma.bsky.social

Exhaust manifold after a file after a skim @artfulemma.bsky.social
Double passing the same port from either end is never brilliant, it leaves a step.

Head is on at a low torque while I set the valves. We will do the final pull-down in the van

Letting sump settle before I think about finding true TDC and popping the head on for timing and valve clearance. @artfulemma.bsky.social

Everyone in the forest thinks so.

Sump is on.
October 31, 2025 at 10:03 PM
Made a start. @artfulemma.bsky.social
It’s sooo clean :D
The oil suction mesh now misses the sump bottom by 4mm. The gasket will give it a bit more. They were touching :o

It’s back!
Even had the block skimmed and I’ve never done that before :) But it is 1991 which is old for a precision casting. @artfulemma.bsky.social

Yeh! Get some! Fook you the disorder of disorganisation! :P
October 28, 2025 at 12:38 PM
I felt it was close enough to right to paint it :)
October 27, 2025 at 5:29 AM
Going to?
October 25, 2025 at 4:28 PM
We dragged the old locomotive loader out of the bushes to use as a quick park-up when people are low on steam. It was all there which is somewhat of a miracle given it has been there for 20 years? 3.5” 5” 7.25” rail gauge.
