A cheeky elf came into school this morning with one of our secondary pupils. He even has his own elf sized Oaklands school top on. He’s already getting up to mischief and has hidden himself somewhere in the school. We’ll keep you posted about where he turns up!

We were delighted to be joined by pupils from Blackhall Primary School this morning for assembly and wheelchair dancing. Everyone was super excited to meet them. A couple of our primary pupils were particularly enthusiastic, squeezing themselves onto the middle of the bench to sit with them.

It was the perfect afternoon for a bonfire; warm (for a Scottish November) and no rain. Spruce class had a lovely time snapping kindling, making sparks and singing fireside songs. #LfSEdinburgh

Rowan class have been busy cooking up Christmas treats ready to sell at our winter fair next month. They’ve been making individual Christmas cakes and they look and smell amazing!

We had some keen Eco pupils out planting native trees in the school grounds this week supported by our fab new volunteer from Heriot’s school.

We are very excited to have Drake Music back at Oaklands and working with some of our secondary pupils. We had so much fun today during the 1st session using our voices and iPads to create spooky noises and music.

There were some very unusual window cleaners in school today as Imaginate theatre group joined us for lots of bubbles and fun in the sunshine.

It was good to see some great mentoring going on this morning. One of our secondary pupils is training up his primary buddy to help him with the morning job of going round classes to check who’s in school. It looks like it was quite a lot of fun.

Aspen class have been focusing on biodiversity in the woods this term. They’ve been out investigating the different creatures that live there and the ways that they depend on one another. Last week they built a giant spider web to catch paper flies. #LfSEdinburgh

What an absolutely fabulous morning at Oaklands! What better way to start the day than by getting together and eating cake? Thank you to everyone who baked and bought. We raised a whopping £515.60 for Maggie’s. A big well done to Rowan class who organised the event.
