to the arms of its mother,
frost-chilled, long ago

an orchestra of summer

I have had such a purely wonderful day so far today, and that has been such an infrequent occurrence as of late that I feel the need to note it somewhere. Like that makes it more real.

Wonderful brunch, cheese adventures, beautiful weather, flea market finds, and just... happiness. I'm grateful.

We need some relief,
Some gentle joy, cold rain for
The drought in our souls

Whenever it hails, the gnomes use their pointy hats as snow cone cups and apply lovely thick syrups made from summer berries.

‘Waffle’ the noun and ‘waffle’ the verb are not etymologically related.

The noun is related to the Old English ‘wefan,’ which means “to weave.”

The verb is related to the English ‘woff,’ which means “to yelp.”

FWIW: we never waffle on eating waffles.

For #InternationalOwlAwarenessDay 🦉 and #MosaicMonday, here's the Owl Mosaic from Thysdrus, depicting an owl wearing a toga and surrounded by dead birds with an inscription that says "the birds are bursting with envy, and the owl does not care".
