It's not something that really has a good solution one way or the other, but it is understandable that Jagex want to try and remedy the fact that most players do not feel inclined to ever interact with combat in the way it was intended to be done since EoC was introduced.

and as a result, it has created a divide where high level PvM players who already do manual combat like the way it is, while the other side of the coin are the players who feel combat is just high APM for the sake of APM, and refuse to engage with the systems in any meaningful way because of it.

I think the problem is that Jagex recognize the majority of players refuse to engage with PvM outside of Revo++, largely in part because the combat just has complexity but not depth, as the game set in stone rotations which are objectively better to do every time (cont'd.)

the rest of the game combined, albeit not in actuality I'm sure. One particular room in the final bonus level also just had pretty poor visibility as it was a brisk paced auto-scroller with a palette entirely in black and red, and the hazards would often blend into the background.

To be fair, Artisan lacked the meaningful choice that Slayer has.

Slayer lets each player can approach a task a different way and there's no right way to go about it, whereas you couldn't really approach "Chop 50 Magic Logs" any way other than just chopping Magic Trees or I guess Ents.

Scrumpled Paper is another one, and is also extremely obscure in its acquisition.

You can only get it at random by using the "Talk-To" option with Shantay and it appears on the ground below him when you get it.

It's technically more useful than the tile, as it's a recipe for cooking Kebabs.

Some of the noteworthy ones off the top of my head were that the cannon would become poisoned if you used a Green Egg, and that the Penance Healers would reset their internal timer that causes them to take DoT every time you used a food on them, drastically slowing down the Healer role.

As far as I recall, BA has never awarded experience.
The other person is right about it being a spaghetti code mess though.

Back around the time Muspah came out, Jagex added freeze resistance to enemies, and side effects of the change greatly messed with BA (cont'd).

It's all the fault of those post-modern neo-PvMarxists for stealing the livable wages from those hard working salad robe folks just trying to catch some crustaceans up in the Wilderness!

It just annoys me to no end that the previous "solution" the RS3 developers came up with, was to introduce a randomly spawning merchant, that sells a random pool of predominately minigame currency in exchange for gold, instead of re-designing the content for players to want to engage with them.
November 14, 2025 at 3:50 PM
I'm cautiously optimistic that as part of the roadmap, Jagex will take a look at revitalizing minigames in RS3 and adjacent content like FF.

I feel like GoTR and Volcanic Mine in OSRS are evidence that minigames can be done in a way that players want to do them for more than just an item reward.

There was a thread posted on the 2007scape reddit that proposed them once. Doesn't seem to have been very well received, but I would agree that it is strange for Tempoross and Wintertodt to have them given the distinct lack of Combat.

Managed to find it: www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/...

Oh actually another couple things I forgot in relation to the "Lessons Learned".
Why do Rune Packs not auto-open like in Leagues?
Similarly, why do Ore Rocks no longer have a fast respawn?
Mining Runite was pretty good XP in Raging Echoes and is not even feasible because of the slow respawn.

Overall it felt quite directionless, which is maybe how Bingo's are in general but I can't in good conscience say that I had much fun playing Grid Master. By the time I really felt overpowered like in Leagues, the board was almost entirely done with.
Apologies that this ended up as mostly ranting.

Some of the unlocks are really strange. Why are Gloves of the Damned locked behind the DT2 bosses? To even earn them you have to complete a tile towards the Sunlit Bracers which are better in almost every facet save for Melee Strength bonus. Really feels like a rushed, tacked on a filler reward.
October 26, 2025 at 12:34 PM
The point distribution is atrocious. In Raging Echoes you could pick the lowest point regions and still have around 10000 points more that were earnable than what was required to buy everything new. Why on earth do you need to complete the entire board save for one Hard task to afford everything?
October 26, 2025 at 12:34 PM
On the topic of the Jal-Zek task. I feel like the Slayer Master relic is still bugged from Raging Echoes and applies its bonus everywhere instead of only on assignable Slayer monsters. If this is a bug-turned-feature they really should've updated the text to clarify that.
October 26, 2025 at 12:33 PM
More on tasks.
Why are there two separate Inferno tasks? All it does is encourage people to rush to plank to the Jal-Zek before you're strong enough to do the 30 minute run.
Why is it required to check the health of a Fruit Tree that takes hours to grow instead of planting it being enough?
October 26, 2025 at 12:30 PM
Tasks felt very hit or miss, and overall difficulty is all over the place. Why require getting boss drops for tasks?
I went dry at Yama which made the task feel like a chore.
Why require all four Awakened DT2 bosses when more casual players will still struggle even beating one of them?
October 26, 2025 at 12:29 PM
Lack of Region Locking felt good. I feel Region Locking in general has gotten quite stale although the Echo Bosses did helped address that somewhat. Would like to see Jagex try another proper League that doesn't have Region Locking in the future as Shattered Relics had its own separate issues.
October 26, 2025 at 12:28 PM
More on experience gain. Why on earth is one of the experience boosts locked behind 92 Slayer, one of the longest requirements to get if you don't have it linked to other skills? In my mind these should be the easiest things to unlock since the purpose is to accelerate your progression.
October 26, 2025 at 12:28 PM
First is combat experience. I'm sure Skill Linking was meant to alleviate this somewhat but it overall felt quite bad not having a 2x combat experience gain passive like in the previous League and it felt like a chore getting high combat stats. Skilling Linking is a cool system though.
