I’m new to teaching year 1 so my students have just moved out of EYFS. Does this project cover how best to support that transition? I know it’s an area I need guidance in!

This is unsurprising but totally incomprehensible. I never thought he was working for peace but to work on ethnic cleansing - words fail me.

Haven’t read the article but I’m going to go ahead and assume it’s fallen because of brown immigration. When London is a city that’s shaped by waves of immigration for centuries. Sigh.

I usually read the first chapter of Wayside School to my year 2s. It always gets a comment and they remember it when we start in September.
Teaching year 1 next year so don’t know if they will understand it in the same way

Try the peanut butter and cucumber slices variation. Always gets comments but was a childhood staple. Crunch and smooth all in one

Why are billionaires literally always trying to make the average and low paid worker even worse off?

Emotional empathy makes a better teacher, it makes for better connections with children. It’s so hard to keep personal emotion in check when it hits close to home.

We teach children to be emotionally resilient - not to be emotionless. It’s ok for them to see you have emotions too x

I’ve been thinking I need some empathy focussed texts and activities for my class. This will be a valuable place to start. Thank you.

Love this! Such a core memory from early teen years.

I read this for A Level years ago but I still remember it being one of the first times I came across a more human representation of mental heath and it was a good perspective on an old classic. Would recommend.

I’ve used ChatGTP for a few tasks. - I feel like it was quicker to do it myself but I’ve taught the same year group for five years. Maybe if I moved years I might find it more useful.

I’m also not keen to centre AI as the creator in a job where I value my own creativity.

I found it interesting and reflected on my own position in terms of my professional development. 📌

Ooh. I’m in Dubai. We have a new female principal and a new female head of primary. I’d love to learn more and share with them.

Maybe nrich style investigations. Deepen understanding. Look at reasoning and problem solving.

Wishing you all the best. I always end up liking all my classes and kids. Sometimes a slow start makes a great year. Hoping you also have a fab first week when the kids are in.

Make them wait - if it’s not convenient for you. Or if there is a risk of their phone being stolen maybe go quicker. Lot of factors at play. But then, I’ve never been able to be strict about repairing broken phones either 🤦‍♀️
