this is my notebook, and all my thoughts are a ramble
-something really interesting and trippy that happens when you consume a book within such a short amount of time. It totally engulfs you. If you spend consecutive days reading 150+ pages of the same book, you absolutely fall into that world. I don't even have the words for it. It's a surreal feeling

-think the 'meaningless' of a lot of it would have translated much better as a first-person novel. So much better. I think it's a film I'll be thinking about for a while, because it's clearly trying to say a lot, even if it's not fully capable of doing so.

-The Weeknd's music. I think it was a very confused metaphor, if that's what it was, but an interesting one. I think someone should have taken a second look at the script to make it more coherent. I think there's potential there. I'm a big reader, so despite how visual this movie is, I honestly-

-there's a lot that can be said about the movie. I'm actually tempted to write a whole essay of my thoughts, because the movie was clearly saying so much even if it was very confused while doing it. I think Jenna Ortega's character is a metaphor for us. The general public. The listeners of-

-disdain for upholding private property, given it serves as a defense against soulless, meaningless AI generated 'art', which is purposefully soulless and meaningless and *easy* for the sake of further alienating true labour (i.e. that of the artist). But idk. Maybe I should ask a Marxist.

-pretty sure Marxists aren't big fans of AI, but it's interesting that we would tend to be on the side of private copyright holders over public data models when it comes to litigation over these issues. I think AI of that type is probably seen as such a greater evil that it supercedes this firm-

My Goodreads review was 5 stars and the comment "A more unhinged Communist Manifesto". Someone's probably made that joke already. So many memorable parts of that book, but it's the afterward that has shocked. How could 6k pay rent for an entire year? How bad has rent gouging gotten since 2005? God.

It also makes sense that the devil character isn't racist. As crazy as that sounds. The devil's whole job is to tempt you onto the wrong path, right? If someone was racist, you wouldn't give them the time of day. You wouldn't listen to them at all. I'd love to write whole essays on this movie. Wow.

-better than film, hence all the 'media literacy' issues now. I think, in writing, nothing is more subconsciously satisfying than a narrative that is not bending to an omniscient writer's will, but is punishing/rewarding the characters based on their own actions and personality traits.

-enjoy flawed protagonists if the narrative is aware of their flaws and punishes them for it. I think the disconnect only happens when a character makes a bad choice but is rewarded by the narrative. Even if it gives the reader a 'happy ending', it's unsatisfying. I think literature does this-

-impression on me. I was thinking of that film for days afterwards, it really fascinated me. I only think about Anora because of all its awards, and I'm genuinely trying to work out what about the film I'm just not getting. Again, Mikey's performance was flawless, but Anora winning Best Picture? Hmm

I've watched video essays on Anora to try and understand why it's Oscar-worthy. Mikey's performance in the movie is incredible, it really is, but the overall film, to me, is Just Fine. I don't think Baby Girl should've been nominated for anything, but at least Baby Girl left much more of an-
