What Happens At Night by Peter Cameron is a mind fuck of a novel about a married couple who travel to a mysterious hotel where nothing feels real. I get why this is Marty’s next starting Leo and JLaw. You can’t predict where it’s going. Great book.

Original Sin by Jake Tapper is about Biden’s decline and his choice to run again. If you believe the reporting - and I do - then Biden was a feeble old man who should’ve been collecting sea shells instead running a country. Tapper has caught shit for this book but whatever, it’s essential.

TART by Slutty Cheff is an anonymous memoir about a girl who loves to cook and fuck, pretty much in that order. It was good for a little while but nothing much happens beyond cooking and fucking and I realize that sounds AMAZING but you’d be surprised.

Careless People by Sarah Wynn Williams really should’ve called Shitty People because it’s an inside look at Facebook and yeah Zuck and Sheryl, are worse than you can imagine. A garbage organization that’s literally controls your mind. Great book.

My Friends by Fredrik Backman….listen I loved A Man Called Ove and I realize how universally adored Backman is but his whole life is a beautiful vibe is wearing thin for me. Give me the horrors.

It’s a masterpiece for so many reasons but my favorite might be Roy from the 1977 show Emergency! showing up as a white supremacist. I’m not making that up.

King of Ashes by SA Cosby is about a wealth manager who returns home to his family’s crematory business and solve some motherfucking crime. It’s violent, unrelenting and just awesome. Everything Burns.

A Marriage At Sea by Sophie Elmhirst is the true story of a British couple who get lost at sea for like two months. It’s insanely (and brief). The husband was a total prick in real life, which adds to the fun. Great read.

The Director by Daniel Kehlmann is about how Austrian director GW Pabst made movies for Nazis during WWII. I got bored about half way through and sped read the rest. It will probably end up on every “Best Of” list but whatever.

Suttree by Cormac McCarthy is about finding dignity in the filth of Knoxville’s riverbanks. It’s a deeply empathetic look at lives the world discards. The prose will take your breath away at times. Among his very best, which holy shit read it.
