it's just a hiatus mark, there's a reason why it's a diacritic and not a whole letter h: ‹au› [ʔau̯] and ‹a'u› [ʔa(ɦ)u]

the apostrophe for some reason behaves as if it was monospaced instead of being thin like an i... this is already bad enough for any language, but especially for lojban it's a nightmare, because the apostrophe is almost silent
