There's several factors for this beyond laziness, such as: time crunch (forced to use stock), producers forcing decisions, budget, and industry standards (i.e. new sound designers being told to do it this way and not to deviate). Corporate Hollywood enforces its "brand" ruthlessly, and it does suck
