Quite a few of them, I was intellectually lazy and opted for Cliffs Notes so that I could go back to playing call of duty. It wasn’t until college where I got into Russian lit and read most of the major stuff. A lot of high school is just busy work so parents can work in peace.

Real talk though, Linux is way, way easier to set up now than it used to be. It used to be an arcane, mystical place. I run Arch which is notoriously difficult, but after a few months of running it and setting it up it’s totally fine, and actually far easier to set up than it used to be.

Definitely the year for Linux. I’ve been full time Linux since May, with a dual boot since like December. Haven’t logged into windows 10 since May. Good riddance. Absolutely terrible user experience. Who are they even making all of this crap for? Grandma is not using AI.

20s are basically monk mode for middle class and under. I remember making $600 one month for adjunct teaching. Left that career asap. I still consider myself in monk mode because of student loans, but now the studying scales much, much faster. Learning causal inference, can immediately apply it.

It is way, way, way better than work that requires lots of body movement. My knees will never forgive me for what I did to them working at a grocery store. I am super, super thankful for the people who make life feasible in this age that have to use their body.

Driving on very busy interstates is a total experience. Theres a (racist) scene from Family Guy where this lady goes “ok I merge now good luck everyone” and that’s what popped up in my head everytime I got back onto the interstate.

I moved recently using their biggest truck. I was the same height as the 18 wheelers. It felt super illegal but I am grateful for it. It did make me ask why can’t I just rent an 18 wheeler then got down the rabbit hole on laws pertaining to it.

Anything interesting from measure theory that can be applied to Bayesian methods? I would love a way to speed up sampling or reduce memory needs. Hierarchical models are so powerful but the compute required is crazy.

Poor people are still not using this app lol. People barely making it are not going to spend $20 on a ride, they’re either hoofing it or getting a ride from a friend. This to me is a little out of touch.
