Yes “seems” doing work. More “imagine” I suppose. I think a lot of us who only know about you, and read your comments, imagine that you know who you are, and see the world as it is, and that makes us happy. Because you are alive in a breed that seems to be dying.

As I understand it The Great Filter isn't "evidence for" the Great Filter. It's an explanation (hypothesis) for what we can observe outside out solar system? -- and why we don't observe more advanced life.

We ship a TON of stuff in our small business -- USPS, UPS, and FEDEX. In my experience, it's MUCH easier to talk to a real person -- who has answers -- with the USPS than with the two private companies. And don't get me started about how difficult and backward Fedex's web interface is.

I'm from Buffalo. I lived in DC for one year. Once it snowed, and everyone acted like nothing had happened and it was still cool to drive 75 miles an hour into every turn and curve. Cars dotted the countryside like mushrooms on a woodland path.

Which isn't to fetishize the DoI -- it's to say that we don't need to appeal to any outside authority to recognize when something is intrinsically wrong, abhorrently unjust. We can oppose it, and demand correction, on those grounds alone. As did others before us.

I thought "Man from Uncle" was pretty darn good the first time I saw it, and the next seven or so times I watched it just kept getting (way) better. It's my favorite (and I LOVE Ritchie's work). Weird how MfU had so little impact -- I'm guessing that no one wanted to work with Armie Hammer again?
