As one of... I think three or four people I counted that replied to you: I wasn't trying to invalidate the word making you feel uncomfortable, I was just giving my perspective on what I've experienced with that community. My apologies for any misunderstanding.

They don't see transformation of their lexicon as invasive or becoming accepted but as being made mainstream and therefore no longer part of their "secret club" mentality towards the stuff they create. It genuinely harms them on a mental level to see their language co-opted and watered down.

As someone who originally came from those kind of places before realizing how toxic they really are, I honestly disagree slightly; if anything, they hate when people take their terms and use them more generically or in ways they didn't intend. They feel like their "meme" was "stolen" and get upset.
