Safety is not from soldiers on corners or armored trucks patrolling streets. It comes from neighbors who feel seen, heard, & valued. If we can spend $1 million a day to intimidate, we can spend $1 million a year to inspire, employ, and empower. That’s what democracy looks like.

Trump could invest $1 million a year to rebuild. The million could instead be used to recruit, train, & hire local police for the community they protect. Hire mental health liaisons & social workers who can intervene. Have substations & beat cops who will build trust & strengthen bonds not by fear.

Cities need to recruit, train, & hire police officers, mental-health link & social workers who handle crises before violence. Make substations/beat cop programs, & officers who walk streets, build relationships, & earn trust. Safety comes when one feels seen, heard, & protected, not from occupation.
