Pelicans, Penguins, tapes and records.
Because I overwatched my video recording of their performance of this on The Word, I always read 'French Disko' in my head in a Terry Christian voice.

One of the great TV performances

They chose their remixers well... That Mother's Moonshine Mix - that's housey, then slows down and goes breaksy and then speeds up again (technical terms!) was one of the great mid-90s remixes for me.

Poor old Tricky - made the top of the NME's album list (if I recall correctly) but not the cover... The 16 year old me thought Elastica should've topped both.

Surely Coke don't need an expensive contracted-out development agency just to tell them that all they need to do is stick some girders in it?

A great idea. I'm currently in the middle of a project to fill a record box with 45s that have the names of our kids in the titles. I'm saying I'm doing it for the wife (but really it's for me).

A (Jimmy Arm)field sparrow?

That list of gigs from 89/90 printed on the inner sleeve of 'A Spy...' still amazes me. Doncaster Minsthorpe High School? Astonishing.

In a properly functioning universe, To Be King by Suckle would've been a number one hit singe. And yet I'd forgotten about it until I just squinted at that list.

Can't believe Donatello endorsed them - your average bo staff'll slide right out pal.

A cunberbatch? I caught one o' them fishing in't River Don near Scunthorpe in 1985...

You see, it's happening again.

Sean Bean’s advert voice has infiltrated my neural pathways. My every thought and inner monologue now sound like he’s at the wheel... And I'm an Owl.

A highlight of Lemon Jelly's classic Breezeblock mix for @maryannehobbs.bsky.social - which I had burned onto CDr and never off the stereo in my first car.

Thanks! I heard some of this on R5 this morning - a very thoughtful interview and he made some interesting points, particularly around independent book shops. Look forward to the pod. It was worth avoiding the Ashes for.

Obligatory Motiv 8 remix and overplayed on the radio perhaps - I tend to skip it these days.

Still love a bit of Ansaphone though...

This looks incredible.

I was hoping for 'Hey Hey Copenhagen' this year.

Saw them the following year at an even smaller venue - Doncaster Leopard!

Not read the article... was she saying he should've been wearing the 'Live At High Wycombe' bootleg tee instead?

I see they've got the new Pram release...

"Hoping one day a door will be ajar
At least so we can recompense
Our betrayal of our hard won friendship..."

I genuinely think Dr Buck's Letter is a masterpiece. The inventiveness of the lyrics matched by the music - which sounded like nothing else on Radio 1 at the time, when Peely rinsed it.
