Syria looking like a rare rebel seizure of central power in Asia/ Middle East; has been very uncommon. S Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia 1975, AFG 1996,2021. Iran 1979 a revolution but could include. Plenty of coups (Syria, Iraq, Pak., Thai) and invasions (Iraq, Camb) but seizure from within quite unusual.
