I know someone who had this happen to them in college. They went on to find out that they themselves were autistic, thought they were really good at masking but just came off as annoying and self-important.

I’m not saying I want the guy to fuck off forever. I want him to realize the gravity of his actions and desires. I hope he will continue to be involved in his community and be a progressive voice.

Killing the cop in your mind means giving people like him grace, but not necessarily a senate seat.

And people were apprehensive enough about him having worked for Blackwater. The SA victim-shaming comments and the totenkopf tattoo alone—without considerable work to show remorse and personal correction—are disqualifying for what he wants: the people of Maine to elect him as their senator…

…to be the person he says he is. I think he’s deeply embarrassed by his past, genuinely thought he could get away with hiding it, and is probably motivated by a desire to do what’s right by people he cares about.

But at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is your past actions…

With all of the 538-esque folks thinking they can make “data-driven” predictions on elections, the only predictive measure that has held up to any scrutiny is Carville’s “it’s the economy, stupid.”

Not that I think electoralism stands a chance of putting the fascist cat back in the neoliberal bag.
