Thanks Andy.

I was coming here to post that and you had it covered.

Time zones are just entirely lost on him.

Just staying in your seat at the Sphere is a challenge, so I'm not sure the Sphereified version is easier to consume than the OG.

I'm less familiar with the Moana remake but How to Train Your Dragon was just the same movie with some live action faces spliced in here and there.

Value net negative.

"Poor" from what perspective?

I think it's intentional and meant to make that area less accessible and high-risk.

If it were unintentional and an oversight that the ladder doesn't have an end that'd be "poor" design but with the ledge that you can leap to from the ladder I don't see it that way.

Ya, down to the sheet metal edge is easy.

Back up to the ladder...and I'm doing my best sky-diver impression over and over.
November 17, 2025 at 9:11 PM
I don't think that's it...or at least that bit of it seems relatively unconcerning to me.

I think the "use less of their imagination" is true of any book-to-film adaptation but I rarely see that criticism made in the modern era.

I think these remakes are simply worse than what they follow.

There's a few spots where sliding down the ladder as fast as you can is really not a great idea and that's #1.
November 17, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Have you successfully made the jump back onto the ladder from the ledge below?

I missed it twice and decided it was a one-way route and death-trap given the tower wasn't accessible from the ledge either.
November 17, 2025 at 8:37 PM
Lmao, no, that has nothing to do with it.

You're meant to jump off from the bottom onto the sheet metal to the side.

And it's meant to be a one-way route.

It's easy to do and obviously what is intended if you don't slide straight down yelling Geronimo!

And those ten hours were just getting the mods to run right.

I've had that soundtrack in rotation for six months now.

What else from this year could compete on that front?

I think you're laughably unfamiliar with the medium you've decided is worthless.

Yes, story-telling is a key feature of what allows for great emotional and experiential impact in games.

I'm sure you'd agree that novels are art, there's little present in novels that isn't also presented in games.
November 17, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Video games as a medium are art. I think you'll arrive at that conclusion if you spend any amount of time thinking about what art is and what video games are and are not.

Some of them are quite obviously artistic masterpieces. From just this year I'd point to Clair Obscur.

Great music + story.

I agree but I do wonder who the alternatives considered were and suspect they were even worse than Hassett.

That said I'm rather sick of watching him hold a shit eating grin while defending the indefensible.

Could be but I doubt it. Thread is consistent with one of his favorite issues to fight with the internet about and it's always the same conversation.

I wonder if many of you read his thread at all, or any of his many, many, past publications on the subject that are relevant that he's iterating on.
November 16, 2025 at 4:24 PM
He doesn't "refuse to understand" he simply disagrees with that conclusion and has spilt a lot of ink making his points.

Bluesky "refuses to understand" that Tom doesn't want that flexibility to blur the lines and definitions because he thinks when 'Real Fascism™️' arrives it needs that label.

No, AOC is well left of the party's center.

Look at the actual MOC elected to office and that's extremely clear.

You can't run AOC or candidates to her left in purple districts and expect to win, but that's what primaries are for and some people need to learn that lesson a few times I guess.
