I co-host the Straight Up Sabres podcast, watch a lot of movies, root for a collection of disappointing sports teams, write occasionally, and apparently use Bluesky now too.
Fun fact for Bills fans who have taken to using the Keith David "welcome to hell" gif/photo: it's actually from the 2018 sequel to Tales from the Hood. Clarence Williams III says the same at the end of the original, which appropriately was released amid another era of dominance over Miami (the 90s).

Interesting question from the other place. I think the 2004 team has a great look at it, even with how good the AFC was. The 2014 team to a lesser extent too. Here's one that probably doesn't come to mind immediately: 2000 (Bad AFC, good defense, decent coach).

The Leafs have been around for 107 years. The Matthews Era accounts for the top two, three of the top four, four of the top six, and seven of the top 16 seasons by points percentage. They've won a total of two playoff series in those years.

This 1-2 punch from Twitter in November sums up my thoughts better than I ever could. I hate to be this paternalistic, but you're not in poverty, you're just living beyond your means!

But I ultimately agree with @mattbruenig.bsky.social 's conclusion. Almost everyone lives under precarity and, in the richest country in the world, it doesn't have to be this way.

I agree with the idea that the issue with "paycheck to paycheck" discourse is that there's no set definition. For example, this seems incredibly "outlandish" to me. 46 days of savings is between 3 and 6 paychecks! Someone who has that level of savings isn't in the same position as one with 7 days.

Like a lot of Bernie voters, I feel alienated from national politics because the only times Dems ever show any fight is when squashing the left. But more and more I feel like what exists of "the left" is totally and willfully out of touch and also incapable of governing.
